Calicut University Withholds Results of UG Second Semester as Teachers Refuse to Evaluate Answer Sheets
Calicut University will release the results of UG second semester exams sometime later. Teachers refused to evaluate the answer scripts that were more than the mandatory number that the university had prescribed.
Calicut University has declared that it will withhold the results of the second-semester exams of the undergraduate level of about a thousand students. The results have been withheld because some of the teachers refused to evaluate answer scripts that were above the mandatory limit that was set by the university.
Calicut University published the second-semester undergraduate degree results on the evening of 8th May 2019, Wednesday.
Six teachers from the Sree Krishna College Guruvayoor, who had been allotted about 160 answer sheets each of the papers of Malayalam for evaluation in the camp held in February 2019, evaluated only the mandatory number of 35 answer scripts and returned the rest unevaluated.

Due to this action taken by the teachers, the university still has to complete the evaluation of the Malayalam papers that were returned. This led to the university withholding the results of a large number of students.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) had prescribed a number which was the mandatory limit of answer scripts that needed to be evaluated by teachers as a part of their duty. The mandatory number of answer scripts for the teachers to be evaluated was 25 for the science subjects and 30-40 for the arts subjects.

Teachers are paid remuneration by the university only for the number of mandatory answer scripts that they evaluate.
