Over 200 students who appeared for the civil service exam conducted by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) on last Sunday could not complete the exam on time due to a technical error. However, they were given some extra time.
According to sources, at Sri Datta Engineering College in Sherguda in Ranga Reddy district, which is one of the centres, 200 candidates out of 2000 could not start their computers. Almost every computer was slow in speed and function. TSPSC officials immediately transferred the students to the nearest exam centre and students were given extra time to finish their exam. Howaever, furious over TSPSC's delay in the process, many students and parents protested outside the centre as soon as the exam ended.
A total of 30,783 candidates had applied for 931 assistant executive engineer posts. However, the online examination held by the TSPSC at 99 centres across the state witnessed only 76.34% attendance. The TSPSC had appointed as many as 6,600 invigilators and 250 observers in all the centres.
