CAT 2015 was conducted on November 28 in two different shifts. The exam was conducted by the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad and around 1.6 lakhs students appeared for the exam. The CAT 2015 exam was different from the previous years’ exam since the duration of the exam was increased to 180 minutes from 170 minutes earlier.

Besides this, the total number of sections covered in CAT 2015 were 3 namely Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning, and Verbal and Reading Comprehension. Till 2014, the exam was divided into two sections i.e QA & DI, LR & VARC. The paper analysis of CAT 2015 for both slots is provided here. 

CAT 2015 Slot 1 Question Paper Analysis Highlights

Provided below are the major highlights of the CAT 2015 Question Paper Analysis.

  • A total of 100 questions were asked in CAT 2015 out of which 32 were TITA questions.

  • The difficulty level of the Quantitative Ability section was Moderate while the difficulty level of the Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning section was Difficult.

  • There was a sectional limit of 60 minutes for each section. Candidates needed to complete each section within 60 minutes.

  • An attempt of 65+ with 100% accuracy was good for CAT 2015 slot 1 exam.

VARC

  • All the Verbal Ability Questions were TITA questions.

  • No grammar questions were asked in the VA section.

  • Out of the 5 passages asked in this section, two were of moderate difficulty.

  • Time management was the key to scoring well in this section.

DILR

  • DI section was time-consuming.

  • In DI sets, one question which was based on set theory was difficult while two were moderate and one was easy.

  • One arrangement question was based on the SUDOKU game

  • A good practice of DI was required to score well in this section.

  • Some questions were easily doable using the help of the calculator.

QA

  • An attempt of 25+ questions with 100% accuracy was good for this section.

  • Most of the questions in this section tested elementary concepts.

  • More than 13 questions were from Algebra.

  • Candidates who remember all the important formulas should be able to answer more than 50% of questions easily.

CAT 2015 Slot 2 Question Paper Analysis Highlights

Provided below are the major highlights of the CAT 2015 Question Paper Analysis.

  • The second slot of the CAT 2015 was conducted from 2:30 PM and 5:30 PM.

  • The sectional breakage of CAT 2015 slot 2 was similar to that of the slot 1 exam.

  • A good attempt for the CAT 2015 slot 2 was 66+ with 90% accuracy. 

  • The Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning section were comparatively difficult than the rest of the section.

  • Candidates were allowed to use calculators for some of the questions.

  • Questions in the VA section of CAT 2015 slot 2 were easier than the CAT 2014 exam.

  • The topics of the passages covered in CAT 2015 slot 2 were mostly based on social issues.

  • Candidates needed to read the passage carefully before answering the RCs questions.

DILR

  • A total of 4 sets for DI were asked in this section. Each section covered 4 questions. The difficulty level of the DI was moderate.

  • The VA part was easy but time-consuming. 

  • Candidates needed to attempt the LR part before the DI part since the DI questions were more time-consuming.  

QA

  • An attempt of 25+ questions with 100% accuracy was good for this section.

  • Most of the questions in this section tested elementary concepts.

  • More than 13 questions were from Algebra.

  • This section was all based on concepts and formulas.

  • Time management and speed were the keys to score well in this section.
