CAT 2017 to be Organised by IIM Lucknow; Exam Structure Likely to be Changed

The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2017 will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow. The Institute will be organising CAT after a gap of seven years. Admission to all the PGP courses offered by IIMs for the session 2018-19 will be done on the basis of CAT 2017.
IIM Lucknow had last conducted CAT in 2010 under the then Convener and Human Resource Management faculty Professor Himanshu Rai. Notices for CAT 2017 advertisement services tenders have already been uploaded on the official website of the institute.
The Convener of CAT 2017 is Professor Neeraj Dwivedi, Chairperson of Admissions and Strategic Management Faculty at IIM Lucknow.
An estimate of 2.50 lakh MBA aspirants are expected to apply for CAT in 2017, whereas, the number of applications received in 2016 was 2.32 lakh. According to sources, a few changes will also be introduced by the IIM Lucknow in the exam pattern.
CAT 2017 schedule will be uploaded online by July end. Aspirants will be able to register for the exam till October 2017 and the exam will be conducted either in November or in December 2017.

In 2016, the responsibility of conducting CAT was taken up by IIM Bangalore. Admission to 19 IIMS and other 150 b-schools in the country is done on the basis of CAT percentile and personality assessment rounds.

CAT 2016 faced some glitches as one of the section had incorrect questions. It was also alleged that the exam paper of the second slot was leaked.
