CAT 2022 Form Filling Mistakes that Impact IIM Shortlist
Here are the common mistakes that the candidates might do while filling CAT 2022 application form which might impact IIM shortlist -
Personal Details
One of the most common and most avoidable mistake is mentioning your name wrongly. While entering the name, be sure that your name and last name is as per your 10th/12th marksheet and/or Aadhar Card. Another mistake that students often make is while entering their marks. Marks of all subjects (including additional subjects) for both 10th and 12th shall be entered as well.
One more mistake to be pointed out is generally made by graduates while using their grade conversion formula. All grades (also applicable for 10th/12th) must be written in the form of percentages only. If your university has specified the formula, then the candidate must only use that formula only. However, if the university does not specify so, the pointer shall be multiplied by 10 to get the percentage. Be sure to contact your university before using the generic formula.
Test Centre Preference
The centres must be chosen based on your exam-day location as per your preferences. It is very important to note that under no circumstances will the test centres be changed.
College Selection
While filling out the application form, a list of colleges will be given from which the candidate has to select which colleges they wish to apply for. It is always better to go for the ‘Select All’ option. Candidates tend to worry if they will be questioned in the interview that they have applied for MBA as well as FABM or for more colleges but as seen so far, no such question has been asked in the interviews. Shortlisting colleges and programmes is rather a risk for you to avoid. After results, it is better to reject the offers that you do not want rather than having no admission offer.
Work Experience
No internship, apprenticeship, or any other work experience before graduation must NOT be mentioned in CAT Application Form. Work experience here means a ‘full-time job done after graduation’. However, if you are self-employed or have a family business, it is to be mentioned only with proper documentation which you will have to produce during your interview. If a candidate is shortlisted on the basis of work experience but fails to provide proper documentation, the candidate may be disqualified from the interview and further process thereafter.
