CAT 2022 LIVE Updates: Notification (Out) at iimcat.ac.in, Registration Start Date (3rd Aug), Important Details

IIM Bangalore has released the CAT 2022 (Common Admission Test) notification today on 31st July 2022. Management aspirants across India were eagerly waiting for the declaration of CAT exam 2022 Notification that contains information like the application form release date, last date to submit the application, application fees and more. Now that the CAT official notification is out, candidates must get ready as registrations open on 3rd August 2022 and the last date to submit the application will be 14th September 2022. 

CAT (Common Admission Test) is conducted every year with the goal to provide admission into MBA/PGP programs in different IIMs across India. Apart from that, there are more than 1200 B-Schools accepting CAT Scores. Every year, lakhs of applicants appear for the CAT exam to get admission into the top management colleges. 

There are a total of 3 different sections in CAT namely Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability and Reading. Candidates are given 120 minutes to solve 66 questions where candidates are awarded 3 marks for every right answer and 1 mark is deducted for every wrong answer.

CAT 2022 Registration Process

Here are step-by-step instructions on how you can apply for the CAT exam 2022 : 

Step 1: Registration

• Candidates need to visit the official website and register for the exam by offering details like name, date of birth, 10th mark sheet and more
• Next, fill in the email address and confirm it 
• Candidates need to select the country and provide the mobile number 
• Click on 'Generate OTP' 
• Next, candidate will receive the email ID and password on their mail and mobile number.

Step 2: Application

• Upon receiving the login ID and password, candidate need to login into the dashboard 
• Next, they must fill out the application form by providing important details like personal details, education qualification, work experience, programme, test city, payment and more
• Recheck all the sections before submitting the form

Step 3: Payment 

Lastly, after filling all the details in the form, candidates need to make the non-refundable payment of INR 2300 (for general) and INR 1150 (SC, ST and PwD).

  What Changed in CAT 2022?

  • IIM Bangalore is going to conduct the CAT exam in 2022, after a gap of 5 years. The MBA institute conducted the first online CAT exam in 2016.

  • The CAT 2022 application fee is increased from Rs 1,100 to Rs 1,150 for SC/ ST students and from Rs 2,200 to Rs 2,300 for general category students.

  • This year, the number of test cities for the Common Admission Test has decreased to 150.

  CAT 2022 Marking Scheme

  Candidates appearing for CAT 2022 exam must check the marking scheme to understand how the scores are calculated. For every correct answer, +3 marks will be awarded. The CAT exam has a negative marking scheme, so candidates will lose 1 mark for each wrong answer. There is no negative mark for non-MCQs.
