CAT 2023 Question Paper Analysis Slot 2: The second shift of the Common Admission Test 2023 was held today, November 26, 2023, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. It was a computer-based test consisting of three sections: VARC, DILR, and QA. Each section has varying weightage, details of which are updated here, along with the expected good attempts. Furthermore, as per the opinions of the candidates and experts, a complete analysis of the section-wise difficulty level of CAT 2023 Slot 2 paper will also be provided.

CAT 2023 Analysis Slot 2: Candidate Reviews

For the computer-based test, the reviews of the examinees will be enlisted here in a short while after the exam ends:

  • LIRDI was a bit tough.
  • VARC was easy.
  • In the VARC section, one question was compulsory to attempt and was star-marked (first time ever). The question was on number 20.
  • Overall, LRDI and VARC were on the easy side compared to QA.
  • Out of the total 4 sets, 3 sets were doable and 1 was a bit tricky related to median and boxes.
  • No questions from  linear equation, vein diagram, network and routes, games, and tournaments were asked
  • Very few questions from Geometry were asked.
  • Most of the questions from Algebra were there in slot 2 like slot 1.
  • Quant was a bit tough compared to Slot 1.
  • Arithematics questions were doable.
  • 3 questions from Numbers were asked.
  • Sentence filler were doable.
  • No question from the clock and calendar was there.
  • As per the student's reaction, the questions in slot 2 were quite different from the PYQs.
  • In LRDI, very less questions from data interpretation were asked.

Note: Para summary options were two close. On average 12-16 questions were doable. One compulsory question was the surprising factor in Slot 2. 4 questions were Non-MCQ's. Reading passages were around 400 to 500 words each.

  • Scheduling Amusement Park (Easy to Moderate)
  • Median (9 boxes, 3 Pouches, Coins)- (Difficult)
  • Reasoning Based DI (Companies) - (Moderate)
  • Mathematical AR (Balls) - (Moderate)
  • Set 1: Arrangement- Scores- Two days average (Out of 5, 2 Doable, 3 Tough)
  • Set 2: Missing Values Based Table- Company Starting/ Closing Year (Out of 5, 4 Doable, 1 Tough)
  • Set 3: Rides and Timings: (Out of 5, 3 Doable, 2 Tough)
  • Set 4: Grid Based- 2 3*3 tables (Out of 5, 0 Doable, 5 Tough)
Note:  No DI questions. DILR had 4 sets (5+5+5+5). 2 sets were doable and 2 sets were moderate and calculation based. Question from percentage (increase and decrease) was asked.
QA
  • Algebra: 7 questions (Log; 1; Equations: 1; Sequence and Series:2, Maxima Minima: 2, Inequalities:1 (Tricky)
  • Arithmetic: 9 questions (TSD:1, Time and work: 1; Ratio: 2) (Easy to Moderate)
  • Compound Interest: 1 question (Easy)
  • Pipe and cistern: 1 question (Difficult)
  • Profit and Loss: 1 question
  • Time Speed and Distance: 1 question
  • Mixture and Allegation: 1 question
  • Geometry- 2 questions
  • Number System- 3 questions (Factors-1, Divisibility- 1) (Easy)
Note: Overall QA was tricky. No Pand C question was asked. The section had 7 Non-MCQs or TITA questions. Like the Slot 1, the section was also dominated by Arithmetic followed by Algebra.
