CAT Question Paper Analysis 2022: CAT 2022 was conducted in three slots on November 27. As per the exam pattern of CAT 2022, each MCQ question carries 3 marks for a correct attempt and there will be a negative marking of -1 for each wrong attempt. There is no negative marking for non-MCQ questions. IIM Bangalore which is the conducting body of CAT 2022 maintains a uniform number of questions across all slots. CAT 2022 result is declared in the form of percentile, and the primary shortlisting of candidates by IIMs is also based on the section-wise percentile secured in the entrance exam.

CAT 2022 Slot 1 Analysis - First Reaction
Here are the major highlights of the CAT 2022 slot 1 question paper according to the first reaction of test takers:- An overall raw score of 98 to 99 in CAT 2022 slot 1 will fetch a 99 percentile.
- The difficulty level of CAT 2022 slot 1 is similar to that of the CAT 2021 mock test.
- DILR was more time-consuming than CAT 2021 and 2020. The difficulty level was easy to moderate.
- The majority of the QA section consisted of Arithmetic questions.
- Slot 1 test takers have suggested taking up DILR sets with maximum questions
- DILR has 4 sets with 5 questions each.
- Students found negative marking for MCQs quite challenging.
- No odd-1-out questions were included in VARC, however, 2 new types of questions were seen (missing places in paragraphs)
- VARC for Slot 1 was 5% easier compared to last year.
- The overall difficulty level for CAT 2022 slot 1 was moderate.
- Non-MCQs were tougher than MCQs and odd-one-out.
- Some of the students expressed that CAT 2022 slot 1 paper was easier than last year. Other students maintained the slot 1 paper was tougher than last year's.

Following are the major highlights of the CAT 2022 slot 2 question paper on the basis of test takers' initial reactions:
- Overall, the difficulty level was moderate to tough in Slot 2
- The Slot 2 exam was lengthier as compared to Slot 1.
- VARC section was lengthy
- DILR had a total of 4 sets - 2 sets had 4 questions and 2 sets had 6 questions
- DI seemed tough at first but was easier while attempting
- Quant seemed difficult but turned out to be easy when attempted in reverse order
- Overall, VARC was easy, DI was average and Quant was tough in terms of difficulty level.

- According to many test takers, Slot 3 was the toughest out of all 3 slots
- VARC section was lengthy but manageable.
- DILR had a total of 4 sets. topics included Games and Tournament, Bar Graph - Death Calculation, AI ML (Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning), and Covid Case Read.
- Quant seemed difficult with questions from Arithmetic and Algebra being dominant.
- Overall, VARC was moderate, DI was moderate-difficult and Quant was tough in terms of difficulty level.
