Prof. S. Sayanna, Vice-Chancellor, Kakatiya University explained that the newly introduced Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) at university and affiliated colleges would improve employability among the students at the global level. However, CBCS will be successful only if it is implemented with utmost dedication and commitment.

The varsity has organised a one-day workshop on ‘Quality momentum in higher education-CBCS as a synergistic approach’ for the academic coordinators on November 22, 2016. The workshop has been organised by KU Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in association with Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE). On this occasion, VC addressed the gathering and explained the importance of CBCS.

He indicated that through CBCS students will have the choice to move from one institution to other. Similarly, students will have flexibility in choosing courses of their interest besides core subjects. CBCS is something like transforming teacher-centric education to student-centric education.

Prof. S. Mallesham, Vice-Chairman, TSCHE explained that the Telangana government has to implement CBCS for the current academic year and it has been receiving a positive response from teachers and students community.

Prof. M. Chenna Basavaiah, State Committee Member of CBCS presented a powerpoint presentation on the topic. He explained that CBCS is being implemented in various reputed institutions like IITs, IIMs and JNU. The main objective of CBCS is to improve the creative skills of the students as well as analytical ability. Through CBCS, students will equip themselves with necessary skills and ultimately become employable globally.
