Soon, You May Get Access to CBSE Board Exam Answer Sheet Copies at Rs. 2 Per Page!
The Supreme Court dismissed the contempt plea against the CBSE after it agreed that it would provide students with copies of their answer sheets at Rs. 2 per page under the RTI Act.
The Supreme Court has rejected a contempt petition against the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) after it said that it was ready to provide the students with copies of the answer sheets at Rs. 2 per page under the Right to Information Act.
A bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and justices K M Joseph & S K Kaul accepted the submissions of Maninder Singh, Senior Advocate appearing for the CBSE.

The contempt plea claimed that CBSE was charging exorbitant fees from the students. In its response to the contempt plea, CBSE said that it will provide students with board answer sheets at Rs. 2 per page, as directed by the Supreme Court.
The contempt petition against CBSE was filed by Whistle for Public Interest (WHIP). It is an organisation of young lawyers whose main aim is to promote transparency, efficiency and accountability in the affairs of public authorities of India. The petition stated that CBSE was charging as much as Rs. 1,000 for the answer sheets of class 10th students and Rs.12,00 students for class 12th answer sheets.

As per the contempt plea, CBSE was disobeying the directions of the apex court. As per the directions of the apex court, students have the fundamental right to evaluate their respective answer sheets under the RTI act.
