CBSE Board Exams: Over 7 Lakh Students Opted for Physical Education
Over 7 lakh students gave the CBSE Board exam for the subject of Physical Education. Other subjects like Theatre Studies, Human Rights, and Philosophy were opted for by fewer students.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board exams saw a rise in the number of examinees for the subject of Physical Education this year. Among all the subjects that were not compulsory, Physical Education was chosen by about 7.28 lakh students whereas less than 10 students chose a few other skill-based subjects.
The Secretary of CBSE, Mr. Anurag Tripathi, apprised everyone about this fact and said that Physical education is mainly an activity subject which has less theoretical and mechanical learning. Its marks are added to the best of five subjects as well.

On the other hand, only one student gave the exam for Human Rights and a single student in Haryana appeared for the Theatre Studies paper. A total of five students in India gave the exam for Library and Information Science and only 12 students appeared for Philosophy.
In the exams of class 12th, less than 10 students gave the exams for subjects like Health Centre Management, Carnatic Music, Theatre Studies, Mohiniyattam Dance, and Library and Information Science.
The CBSE conducted its board exams in 213 subjects, of which 55 were skill subjects. The exams of these skill-based subjects and other subjects which were not opted for by many students were held in the month of February while the other exams were held in March.

Mr. Anurag Tripathi was asked if the subjects which are taken by fewer students will be discontinued to which he replied that the Board will review the subjects and make necessary changes but it will not discontinue the subject suddenly, especially when there are students enrolled for that subject and have not completed the entire cycle.
