Chairperson of CBSE, Anita Karwal, asks students appearing for board exams to not give into stress and anxiety. In a letter sent out by Karwal, she encouraged students to work hard and forget about stress and pressure to score marks.

The letter was sent out on the first day of class 10 and 12 board exams. In her message, the Chairperson said that devoting long hours to studies is not mandatory. Putting up her example, she said that she used to study hard, revise all the concepts and still used to find the time to listen to her favourite songs when she was a student.

She also added that results and marks are not something that defines an individual, therefore, one should not give into anxiety, stress, nervousness and sorrow. She also added that one should merely treat them as nouns.

She also quoted a line from Harry Potter and the Chambers of Secrets and said that it is our choices that define more than our abilities. She asked the students to make their choices wisely, work hard and never lose confidence. Her message has gone viral on social media and has reached numerous students.

Chairperson Karwal was part of the first batch of students who appeared for the 10+2 exams under the CBSE system. The system has replaced the Higher Secondary Exam system that was followed by schools after the 11th standard.
