CBSE Class 10 Social Science Blueprint 2024: The theory paper of CBSE social science is conducted for 80 marks. The paper has six sections, A to F, and 37 questions. All these questions are compulsory but internal choices are provided. The question paper is set such that 50% of the weightage or 40 marks will be for competency-based questions and the rest will be for textbook-based questions.

Section-wise instructions regarding the marking scheme, answering pattern, and others are outlined here:

  • Section A has no internal choice and hence, all questions from Q.1 to Q.20 are compulsory.
  • Section B has questions from Q.21 to Q.24 in which a choice is provided in Q.22. The answers to each question in Section B should not exceed 40 words.
  • Section C has five questions from Q.25 to Q.29 in which a choice is provided in Q.26. The answers to each question in Section C should not exceed 60 words.
  • Each question from Q.30 to Q.33 has one extra choice option i.e., the candidate must only answer any one of the two sub-questions per question. Also, each question is not to be answered in more than 120 words.
  • In Section E, there will be two 1-mark questions and one 2-mark question. No internal choice is provided in this section. Hence, all questions are compulsory. The answer to each question must not exceed 100 words.
  • There are two sub-questions in Section F. Q.37a is from History and Q.37b is from Geography. Internal choice in sub-questions is provided.
