Following the allegations of the data breach of over two lakh candidates who had appeared for NEET-UG 2018 exam, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) confirmed that the reports on data leak were just a rumour. The board further indicated that a few people are trying to create chaos and cheat the public by making such false statements.

Recently, there were reports that the personal data of the candidates who had appeared for NEET-UG 2018 exam was put up online for a price of Rs. 2 lakh. However, CBSE responded that it maintains the data of the candidates in encrypted format with stringent security measures with NIC (National Informatics Centre). For instance, the confirmation page that candidates take printout has vital details of candidates such as e-mail ID, mobile number and identification documents in the encrypted format, CBSE explained.

For initiating the process of examination further, CBSE obtains data from NIC. With the students’ data obtained from NIC, CBSE allocates roll numbers and results. The data does not contain personal details of the candidates such as email ids, identification documents, mobile numbers etc. Therefore, the data leak of NEET-UG 2018 applicants is not possible, indicated by CBSE.

CBSE further confirmed that NEET-UG results are announced through NIC and data leak is not possible at this stage. From 2019 onwards, NEET exam will be conducted and administered by National testing Agency (NTA) and will be held twice a year.
