CBSE has replaced the existing system of question paper distribution with a new system for the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams that took place on April 02, 2018. The board has taken rigid steps to regulate the question paper leak without disclosing much information about the same. Due to the implementation new system at the eleventh hour, the exam was delayed in various exam centres across the country. In most centres, the exams began later than the time prescribed by CBSE. Bharat Bandh on April 02, 2018, was also one of the reasons for the delay in the commencement of exams.

According to reports, teachers from several government schools across Delhi complained that they had received question papers from the designated banks later than scheduled. A few schools also complained that the board did not give clarity whether the encrypted question papers had to be printed at the exam centres.

The officials of CBSE confirmed that they had implemented an alternative system for the exams that took place on Monday, April 02, 2018 but refused to disclose the details pertaining to the new mechanism as they wanted to take the people involved in question paper leak by surprise. The board has framed three alternative strategies, and one among them was implemented for Class 12 Hindi (elective) and Class 10 Sanskrit exams.

According to sources, CBSE may have printed a fresh set of question papers due to which the exams began late.

In many regions, students were unable to reach the exam centre on time due to Bharat Bandh. On April 01, 2018, the board announced that the Class 10 and Class 12 exams scheduled on April 02, 2018, in Punjab are postponed due to the bandh.

CBSE will issue an official schedule for the postponed exams for Punjab and other regions (where the exam was cancelled) shortly.
