The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has come up with an instruction module for all schools to prevent students from cheating, a senior Board official said last week.

The instruction module recently reached its final form as it was being worked on for quite some time. To bring down the cases of cheating, CBSE will issue this module to all schools this week. The module mentions why cheating is unethical. There will be case studies pertaining to cheating in the module, said the official.

As per the media reports, the number of cheating cases during CBSE exams doubled in 2017. It rose from 56 in the year 2016 to 119 in the year 2017. In 2018 also, the figure was similar.

The official also assured that exams will be leak-proof this year considering the year 2018 saw question papers of Economics and Mathematics being leaked prior to the Class 10 and 12 exams organised by CBSE. This led to the re-conducting of the Economics paper for class XII students.

The Board has put a system in place now, which will help identify any malpractices that may happen. The system has been strengthened now at all levels. The official also said that the information about the board conducting exams early this year due to the general elections is wrong. Exam dates have no concern with the elections.

The exams are being conducted early this year as per the instruction of the Delhi High Court so that the school results do not clash with the DU admissions. That results will be announced early in May this year.
