CBSE Launches JEE Main 2017 Website, Aadhaar Card Mandatory for Applying

JEE Main 2017 dates are out and the exam will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on April 2, 2017. JEE Mains is conducted every year in offline mode i.e. pen and paper mode. The information related to the exam has been released by IIT Madras, the exam conducting authority.

The institute had announced information related to the exam on the JEE Advanced 2017 portal in October. The official website of the exam was launched by CBSE on November 18. IIT Madras has released all important dates and details regarding JEE Advanced 2017 on the official website. Students who aspire to pursue engineering from premier Indian institutes such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, etc. can apply for the exam from December 1.

Candidates must complete their application and register latest by January 2, 2017. Other important dates are given below.

Find out what’s new about JEE Mains 2017 and JEE Advanced 2017:

• Admissions to engineering colleges for the session 2017-18 will not be done on the basis of normalized score of class 12th marks and JEE results. Till 2016, JEE Main All India Ranks was determined by evaluating both, JEE Main marks and the normalized result of Class XII in the ratio 60:40
• The intake capacity after JEE mains has been increased and 20000 more students will be able to apply for JEE Advanced 2017 once they have cleared the JEE Main
• JEE Eligibility Criteria for students who wish to take admission in IITs/NITs/IIITs and such other CFTIs that shortlist students based on their JEE ranks, the students must have secured minimum 75% marks in the 12^th Board exam or must be among the top 20 percentile in 12th board exam of a recognized board. (For SC/ST, eligibility would be 65% in the 12th Class exam)
• JEE aspirants should also possess Aadhaar card issued by UIDAI in order to apply for JEE exam. Candidates who do not possess Aadhaar cards or those whose credentials (Aadhaar number, name, date of birth & gender) do not match with the database of UIDAI will not be allowed to appear for the exam
• Eligibility criteria of IIT, IIIT, NIT and CFTI has been revised. Please refer to the official website for details

Exam Pattern for JEE Mains 2017:

Paper I of JEE Mains 2017 will consist of 90 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ's) covering subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The paper will be available in both Hindi & English languages for the convenience of the students and will be conducted in both modes - Paper Based and Online. The total time given for Paper I of JEE Mains 2017 will be 3 hours (4 hours for students with a disability) and students will be awarded 4 marks for every correct answer. For every negative response or multiple responses, 1 mark will be deducted.

Paper II of JEE Mains 2017 is conducted for Bachelor of Architecture and will consist of a total of 82 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ's) questions divided into 30 questions from Mathematics, 50 questions from Aptitude Test and 2 questions (descriptive) from the drawing test. This paper will also be conducted in both Hindi & English languages, only in the offline mode. The duration for the entire paper will be 3 hours (4 hours for differently abled students) and will award 4 marks for every correct answer, apart from the 2 questions in the drawing section, which will carry 70 marks. 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer or multiple responses.
