CBSE to have No Role in Deciding NEET UG 2018 Eligibility Criteria

  • CBSE has informed all the NEET UG 2018 aspirants that it has no role in defining the eligibility criteria for the exam.
  • The Board has also asked the students to file their complaints regarding the exam with Medical Council of India (MCI).

Following the complaints filed by the students regarding NEET UG eligibility criteria, CBSE has informed the students that it does not has the discretion to decide the eligibility criteria of NEET UG exam. CBSE also asked the students to direct all their grievances regarding the exam to Medical Council of India (MCI).

In the past few weeks, CBSE has received various complaints from students and parents regarding open school candidates being barred from NEET UG. Grievances were also filed regarding candidates being banned from the exam if they had taken biology as an additional subject in class 12.

NEET UG 2018 will be conducted on May 6 and the registrations for the exams will be closed on March 9. NEET UG 2018 important dates and exam schedule were released by CBSE earlier this month. Recently, the Union HRD Minister also announced that NEET 2018 will be conducted across 150 cities in India as compared to 107 cities in 2017.

CBSE also added that it is only responsible for conducting the NEET UG exam as per the guidelines and rules set by the MCI. CBSE has no role to play in deciding the eligibility criteria. The board also asked the candidates to refer the information bulletin and FAQs in the official website of NEET to stay updated.
