CBSE to HRD: Holding Exams Outside its Purview is Creating an Extra Burden
The board indicated that most of the examinations which are being carried out by CBSE are out of its purview.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in a written statement to Human Resource Development Ministry mentioned that holding examinations for various bodies is creating an extra burden on it. The board indicated that most of the examinations which are being carried out by CBSE are out of its purview. It also mentioned that holding large-scale examinations like UGC-NET 2017 will ultimately lead to creating a burden on the resources.

RK Chaturvedi, Chairperson of CBSE, said that to improve quality education in India, the CBSE has to focus only on its core areas. The board also sent the letter to UGC in which it has mentioned that CBSE would give all the technical support required for conducting the exams.
Chaturvedi also said that CBSE is holding examinations ranging from those for undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses. He stated that conducting these examinations will affect its overall functioning.

One of the officials of CBSE mentioned that the board might still conduct UGC-NET 2017 test. One of the senior officials of HRD Ministry was of the opinion that CBSE has to conduct school level examinations as well.
The board also pleaded for a separate mechanism for conducting recruitment test for Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.
