CBSE UGC NET July 2017: Application & Important Dates
UGC-NET is conducted twice in a year by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in the months of January and July.
University Grants Commission's National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) is conducted twice in a year by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in the months of January and July. Candidates after clearance of the examination are awarded Junior Research Fellowship and become eligible for the post of Assistant Professor in the University or both. The application process for UGC-NET July 2017 will commence from April. However, the Board is yet to release its official notification in this regard. It is likely that:
- Application process will commence from the First Week of April 2017
- Application process will end in the First Week of May 2017
Last year in 2016, the second phase of the exam was held on 10 July 2016. From the schedule of last year, it can be expected that this year the examination will be held on the second Sunday of July 2017.

For appearing in the examination, candidates must have 55 percent marks in their Master's degree from a UGC recognised University. There is a relaxation for the candidates belonging to ST/ SC, OBC and PWD candidates. The qualifying marks for them is 50 percent in the Master's degree. Candidates who have appeared/ appearing in their Master degree can also appear in the examination.

The Board conducts the exam for 84 different subjects. The aspiring candidates who want to become a lecturer in a University or wish to carry forward their studies, in a particular subject, they had studied, can apply for the examination.
Several Universities prefer candidates having the UGC-NET score for their Ph.D. courses. Such candidates are not required to appear for the Ph.D. entrance examination.
