NITI Aayog, in collaboration with CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) and DIPP (Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion), has launched ‘India Innovation Index’ with a purpose to rank states on the basis of innovation that is taking place in the country. NITI Aayog, DIPP and CII are aiming to make India an innovation-driven economy.

India Innovation Index is India’s first online innovation index portal that will capture data on innovation from all the states across the country. The collected data will be updated regularly on the portal. NITI Aayog’s move to launch India Innovation Index comes from the central government’s motive to enhance the quality of education, research and innovation in higher learning institutes across the nation.

RUSA (Rashtriya Uchchtar Shiksha Abhiyan) will provide adequate support to state governments for enhancing quality research, incubation hubs and incubation centres. So far, the central government released Rs. 12.03 crore under RUSA for three states namely Tamil Nadu, Nagaland and Maharashtra.
