Central & Tribal Universities in AP Soon: Prakash Javadekar
The Central team has already inspected and approved the land which was provided by state government.
The Union Minister of Urban Development, Venkaiah Naidu met Union Minister of Human Resource and Development, Prakash Javadekar on September 12, 2016, and urged him to expedite the process of setting up Tribal and Central Universities in Andhra Pradesh and requested to bring the proposals before the Cabinet soon for the approval.
Venkaiah Naidu discussed with Javadekar about the setting up of Tribal University at Vizianagaram and Central University at Ananthapur. He mentioned that proposals were part of the promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act.

After the meeting, Javadekar spoke with the media and said that the Central team has already inspected and approved the land which was provided by state government. He mentioned that Public Sector Educational Consultants India Ltd (EdCIL) had been given responsibility to prepare detailed project reports for the establishment of Tribal and Central Universities. The EdCIL will submit the final reports to the government by next week.

He assured that after the verification of reports, the proposals would be moved to the Expenditure Finance Committee. After the acceptance of the committee, the proposals would be put before the Union Cabinet for its nod.
The Central team which was appointed by HRD Ministry selected a site at Relli Village in Vizianagaram for the Tribal University. Similarly, the team selected a site at Janthaluru village, Ananthapur for Central University.
