Centre for Animation and Gaming will Soon Come Up in Maharashtra, Assures CM
David Fadnavis, Maharashtra CM with Union Information and Broadcasting announced that the Cabinet of the state has approved the setting up of National Centre for Excellence for Visual Effects, Animation, Comics and Gaming at Goregaon Film City.
Chief Minister of Maharashtra David Fadnavis announced that the Cabinet of the state has approved the allotment of 20 acres of land for the setting up of National Centre for Excellence for Visual Effects, Animation, Comics and Gaming at Goregaon Film City. It is a historic decision taken by the state government. Through this, the financial and entertainment capital of India will transform as a home for gaming, animation, and comics.

The centre will be a world-class institution which will be set up in collaboration with Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry. The institute will offer both postgraduate and undergraduate courses along with research facilities. The centre is also planning to seek cooperation from industry and public sector.
One of the officials mentioned that Fadnavis announced the project a year ago and has been successful in bringing out the project into a reality. The centre will be beneficial to those who aspire to become filmmakers or attain skills in animation and visual effects or excel in gaming and comics area. He further added that there is a lot of scope for employment opportunities in these sectors and they are the fast growing sectors in the present scenario.

One of the professors of Mumbai University indicated that digital technology has become an integral part of short films, movies and documentaries. Today, TV shows are also playing a significant role as an emerging media platform. The centre will cater to the needs of industry and adopts digital technology.
