Chandrayan-2: MHRD Promotes Study in Aerospace Engineering Through SWAYAM

Celebrating the proud and successful launch of Chandrayaan-2, the Ministry of Human Resource Development had congratulated the ISRO and motivated & encouraged students across India to take up higher education studies in the field of aerospace engineering. Stating that the Ministry’s online education portal, Swayam, will be offering different courses in the field, by the end of the Month, i.e. 29th July 2019. The online portal, which had been launched in the year 2016, offers students various online courses under Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC)

In a tweet that had been sent by the MHRD, they stated that learning aerospace engineering from their online portal, Swayam, will probably help them be a part of the next big trip to space. The Ministry has added 6 different courses on the various aspects of Aerospace Engineering such as Aircraft Stability, Introduction to Aerospace Engineering/Flight, Introduction to Rocket Propulsion, etc that will help in providing the necessary knowledge to the students in the field. As the per the information provided, the students who pursue the different programmes will have to spend a duration of 8 to 12 weeks respective to the course of choice. Two of the courses, i.e. “Design of Fixed Wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles” as well as “Aircraft and Stability Control” will have their classes being conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.

Along with these courses, IIT Kanpur will be providing different classes such as Introduction to Ancient Technology, meanwhile, IIT Bombay will provide a course on Aerospace Engineering/Flight, while IIT Kharagpur will provide an 8-week course on Vibration and Structural Dynamics.
