On July 15, 2020, the Andhra Pradesh government has announced that all the Common Entrance Test (CET) of the state will be postponed. In lieu of the COVID-19 pandemic, the education department of AP earlier decided to conduct the exams in late July. However, Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has taken the decision to postpone all the exams until any further notice. So, is the postponement of such exams will have a negative impact on the students?

Well, the possible impact which is visible is the concern of students in terms of missing their one year of academics. Many students are doubtful that the postponed exams will affect their further admission process which may delay their education by whole one academic year. Note that, these CET exams are conducting in the state to shortlist the students for admission to various UG and PG programs. However, postponing the exams will leave the students with nothing but just to sit and wait for the final dates.

Another major effect which the postponed exams may have on students is the doubt that whether they should wait for the final dates or go for direct admissions to the college. One of the possible concerns, in this case, is that if the students do not qualify in these tests, they may also lose the admission opportunities to other colleges with direct admission due to the delay.

Apart from this, the college administrations believe that the pandemic situation is only going to worsen until the month of September. Hence, the best time to conduct these exams is in the month of July to August with proper precautions.
