Chennai Engineering Colleges Campus Placements Go Up
A wave of happiness engulfs the Tamil Nadu engineering colleges as in 2019, the placement numbers of the Tamil Nadu engineering colleges are again going higher after the significant dip in 2017 and 2018
It is a matter of relief to the students of Tamil Nadu Engineering Colleges that the campus placements for Tier 1 and Tier 2 colleges have gone up by 10% to 30% in the state. Before 2 years, it was tough for Tamil Nadu Engineering students to get through a campus placement as the number of campus placements down-surged.
Many IT companies are looking forward to increase their workforce for which, the placement cells of the colleges have also become very active. The students who belong to Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology is reported to be higher in Demand.
2017 was a tough year for aspiring engineers as most of the IT companies delayed their placement drives and hired low key members mostly. The hiring of IT companies gained some momentum in 2018 when the IT companies opened their doors for freshers. 70% of the students were hired and the situation even affected the top ranking engineering colleges.
The news to rejoice is, even the tier 2 engineering colleges are seeing more than 85% of students getting placed in various companies in 2019. With the changing scenario, not only IT companies but also core companies are coming to the college campuses for recruiting young engineers.
Mr. T. Thyagarajan, who is the director at the Centre for University-Industry Collaboration or CUIC in Anna University pointed out that there is not only a change in the scenario but also the salary packages are increasing. He seemed happy when he announced that 5 students from the Anna University campus have selected for jobs offering salary packages as high as 39 lacs per annum. Globally reputed companies like Microsoft, Adobe, Wipro, Uber, Samsung came to the university for campus placements.
The Tamil Nadu State Level Placement Programme or TNSLPP, is a state level placement drive conducted in Tamil Nadu for placing engineering students. The authority of TNSLPP has informed that there has been a 100% increase in the offers made by various companies. They have put forward the statistics that in 2019, companies made 1576 job offers comparing to 766 in 2018.
Mr. R.M. Kishore, the vice chairman of RMK Engineering College has also expressed his joy that the institutes are seeing 30% more placements in 2019 after the dip in the previous year.
