CISCE also referred to as the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations has changed the exam pattern for class 12 or ISC students from the upcoming academic year. From 2021 ISC students will have to appear for 80 marks for Mathematics and English instead of 100, according to the official notice of CISCE. The remaining 20 marks will be allotted to project work.

The official notice further informed that students will have the freedom to choose from a list of topics for the project work. In English, 20 marks will be further divided into listening, speaking, and writing with each having five marks. These marks will be allotted internally to the ISC students. The remaining five marks will be awarded on writing skills but will be allotted externally. Whereas in Mathematics students will be required to take up two projects from any topic covered in theory.

CISCE is yet to announce pending exam date sheets. The council, in an official release earlier said that the remaining papers of ICSE, ISC will be conducted within a period of 6-8 days including Saturday and Sunday. The new dates for pending CISCE class 10 and 12 exams will be released soon.

The council also introduced new subjects for class 10th and class 12th in 2019 academic year For ICSE, the council has decided to launch Group 1 History, Geography (Thailand), and Civics which will be compulsory for candidates of Thai nationality whereas others can also opt for the same. Students can choose between either History, Civics, and Geography/ History, Civics, and Geography (Thailand Nationality students). For ISC students, the council also introduced Hospitality Management and Legal Studies.

Meanwhile, one of the most important initiatives taken by CISCE is the introduction of compartmental examination at both ICSE and ISC levels. From 2019, both class 10th and class 12th students who fail in the examinations will get another chance/ opportunity to clear the exams. However, candidates can appear for one compartmental exam a year only. The ICSE and ISC exams will take place in July every year and the results will be released in August.
