CISCE Exams for 9 & 12 Class are Not Board Exams Anymore, Says the Council
The CISCE board has declared changes in the uniform examination system of class 9 and 11 examinations after an online petition was signed by more than 10,000 parents requesting the same.
Addressing to the heads of all affiliated schools, the national-level education board CISCE (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations) released a circular on 9th August 2019 on its official website. As per the letter, the uniform examination system for class 9 and 11 in CISCE affiliated schools will NOT be Board Examinations anymore.
The council that prides itself to be a child-friendly board came to this decision after an online petition was signed by above 10,000 parents from all around the country. The principle motive of the petition was to request the board to reverse its decision to make sure that students are not exposed to anxiety and stress.
In the letter, the council said that the board would be providing its affiliated schools with common question papers for selected subjects that are taught in 9th and 11th class. The letter further read that the question papers for the remaining subjects will be set by the respective schools. The board’s motive behind this is to provide immense benefit to the students in subjects that they often tend to lose marks in, during board exams.

This exercise will be proved helpful to the students in getting familiarised and acquainted with the correct format and pattern of the Board Examinations, consequently removing the stress while dealing with these subjects at board level.
This will also ensure the completion and proper preparedness of the syllabuses, providing a holistic approach to the school level education. The comprehensive learning that the new rule brings will harness the standardised level of learning and teaching in all schools affiliated by the board.
