CISCE Slashes Minimum Marks Required to Pass ISC, ICSE Exams
- The minimum passing criterion for class 10 and 12has been revised by CISCE to maintain uniformity in passing mark.
- The pass percentage for class 10 has been reduced to 33%, whereas, for class 12 has been reduced to 35%.
The CISCE (Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations) has revised the pass mark for Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. CISCE has released an official notice stating that the minimum passing criteria for both the classes have been slashed to match all other boards in India. The decision was taken based on the recommendations made by IBWG (Inter Board Working Group). According to the recommendations made by IBWG, all the boards in the country should have a uniform pass mark criteria. All the schools affiliated to CISCE have received an official communication regarding the same.

Revised Passing criteria for Class 10 & Class 12 Students: -
- The pass mark for ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) Class 10 exams has been reduced from 35 percent to 33 percent. The same criterion is applicable to Class 9.
- Similarly, the pass mark for ISC (Indian School Certificate) Class 12 exams has been brought down from 40 percent to 35 percent. The same criterion is applicable to Class 11.
- The revised passing criterion for CISCE Class 10 & Class 12 will come into effect from the academic session beginning in 2019.

The reduction in the minimum passing mark will increase the pass percentage in Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. In 2017, the pass percentage in ICSE Class 10 exams was 98.53 percent, and the pass percentage in ISE Class 12 exams was 96.47%.
