Class 12th Results Likely to be Delayed Following HC Directive to Include Marks Moderation
- Now, the CBSE has to award grace marks to the students for the difficult questions.
- With the directive of HC, CBSE might delay the declaration of Class 12 results now.
- The board did not give any official announcement regarding the declaration of Class 12 results till date.
Giving a sign of relief to Class 12 students, the High Court of Delhi has directed the Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE to continue with the marks moderation policy. CBSE will now have to award grace marks to the students for the difficult questions asked in the exam. CBSE’s decision to do away with awarding grace marks was challenged by a parent and lawyer. The petitioners claimed that scrapping moderation policy would have a negative impact on students.

The petitioners also claimed that students who wish to study abroad would suffer the most if CBSE scraps moderation policy. After hearing the arguments, the High Court has given its decision on May 23, 2017. Earlier, the HC termed the CBSE’s decision to scrap moderation policy as irresponsible and unfair.

With the directive of HC, CBSE might delay the declaration of Class 12 results now. CBSE will have to adjust the marks which is expected to take time. However, CBSE did not give any official information regarding the date for declaring Class 12 results. There were speculations that CBSE results might be released on May 24/ 25 or May 27, 2017
On the other hand, the University of Delhi has initiated the online registration process for the admission to UG courses. The students are eagerly waiting for Class 12 results so that they can start applying to various colleges or universities.
