CLAT 2024: According to the exam pattern set by the Consortium of National Law Universities, CLAT 2024 question paper will comprise 120 multiple-choice questions. Therefore, candidates must be well-versed in the syllabus to answer all MCQs accurately. In case, candidates find difficult questions on the paper, they can implement the tricks provided here to mark the right answers to even those unknown questions. However, applicants must be careful while answering these questions as 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

CLAT 2024: Helpful tricks to answer MCQs

Here are some of the helpful tricks to answer multiple-choice questions during the CLAT 2024 examination:

  • Tip 1: Do not follow the sequence. Attempt the questions that you’re most confident about, and then gradually move towards solving the ones that are a bit challenging.

  • Tip 2: Since 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer, try attempting four unknown questions, chances are you will get at least one right through guesswork. If you get one right, you will secure one mark, and if you get the rest three wrong, you will lose 0.75 marks. So, you will still get a profit of 1-0.75 = 0.25 marks. So, if not a huge profit, there won’t be a loss either.

  • Tip 3: While answering the questions, divide it into stages. For Stage 1, answer the questions for which you know it will be 100% correct, then for Stage 2, answer the questions where there is 50% probability, and for Stage 3, try attempting the questions, the answers of which you’re clueless about.

  • Tip 4: Based on the previous year’s analysis, questions that have an option for ‘All of the Above’ are the right answer. So, if you don’t know the answer to a question, but you see that there is the choice of ‘All of the Above’, you can go for it. There is a 95% chance that it will be correct.

  • Tip 5: After reading the questions, analyse the choices, and discard two of them that you feel are not the right answer. Through this elimination technique, you can increase the probability of marking the right answer.

  • Tip 6: Scientifically proven, 95% of the time, option A is not the right answer.

  • Tip 7: If there are questions, that have completely extreme choices, then discard them as they are less likely to be correct. For instance: if there is a question that asks for the value of X, and the options are 0, 22, 28, and 108. There are high chances that 0 and 108 will be incorrect options, as they are extremely distant from the other choices.

  • Tip 8: If your brain signals the right answer to a question, follow it. Sometimes, our brain remembers fragments of information, that we consciously forget while studying.

  • Tip 9: Scientifically, the most probable right answer is always option B or C.

  • Tip 10: While in confusion between option B and C, mark B as it is most likely to be the right answer.
