Will CLAT 2024 Registration Fee be refunded? Check refund criteria

CLAT 2024 Counselling Registration Fee: With the start of CLAT Counselling Process 2024 after the announcement of results, candidates proceeding with the application must be wondering if the registration fee is refundable or not. To participate in the counselling process, the applicants have to pay a CLAT 2024 registration fee of Rs 30,000/- for the General category and Rs 20,000/- for ST/ SC/ OBC/ BC/ EWS/ PWD categories in online mode before the last date i.e., December 20, 2023. Paying such a big amount also raises concerns about the chances of a refund. Check the criteria for eligibility for a refund shared below:

Eligible for Full Refund

• If the candidate is not allotted a seat at the end of the Fifth round of the counselling process.
• If the candidate has been allotted a seat but has not chosen the Freeze or Float option and exited the counselling process.
• If the candidate has been allotted a seat and has chosen a Freeze or Float option but the candidate then subsequently chooses to Exit from the counselling or fails to complete their admission at the chosen NLU by paying their fees:
  • If the Exit option is exercised before 1:00 P.M. on May 23, 2024, then the full fee will be refunded.
• If the candidate is allotted a seat for the first time in the Fifth round of counselling, and the candidate chooses to Exit or fails to complete their admission at the NLU.

Eligible for Partial Refund

• If the candidate has been allotted a seat and has chosen a Freeze or Float option but the candidate then subsequently chooses to Exit from the counselling or fails to complete their admission at the chosen NLU by paying their fees:
  • If the Exit option is exercised after 1:00 P.M. on May 23, 2024, then a deduction of Rs 5,000/- will be made and the remaining fee (Rs 25,000/- for unreserved categories and Rs 15,000/- for reserved categories) will be refunded.
• If a candidate is found ineligible by an NLU based upon the verification of documents, then also a deduction of Rs 5,000/- will be made.
• If the candidate is allotted a seat for the first time in the Fifth round of counselling, and the candidate chooses to Exit or fails to complete their admission at the NLU

Not Eligible for Refund

• The Confirmation Fee paid by any candidate shall be deducted from the fees payable at the NLU to which the candidate has been admitted.
• The Confirmation Fee will not be returned if the candidate chooses the Exit option, fails to pay the fees due at the NLU by the due date, or is declared ineligible by an NLU based on the verification of documents/information submitted by them.

Important Note Regarding Refund

• Refunds will be made to the same account that was used to pay the Counselling Registration Fee.
• Candidates must ensure that their designated bank accounts are operational during the counselling and reimbursement processes.
• Refund requests to another account will not be accepted.
