CM of J&K Launches School Management Information System (SMIS)
It is a comprehensive IT-enabled system which gives complete details about the staff strength, the teacher-student ratio of various government schools spread across the state.
Mehbooba Mufti, Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, launched School Management Information System (SMIS). It is a unique system which contains the full database of all the government schools across the state. The education department of Jammu & Kashmir in collaboration with MHRD, ISRO, Digital India and National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) developed SMIS.
It is a comprehensive IT-enabled system which gives complete details about the staff strength, the teacher-student ratio of various government schools spread across the state. On this occasion, Chief Minister also launched U-DISE or Unified Data Information System for Education. It contains details about the student enrollments in schools.

On the other hand, Geographic Information System (GIS) has also been launched by Chief Minister. The system helps in the mapping of schools through which the geographical locations, as well as 3D structures of schools, have been marked. It also contains the details relating to infrastructure facilities in schools. As of now, 28,000 schools come under GIS mapping.
CM also launched Vocational Monitoring Details which helps in monitoring the implementation of vocation courses in the state. With an objective to address the issues like time management and infrastructure gap, CM also launched an online portal called e-office which helps in the online transforming of files which are prevalent in school education department.

On this occasion, CM has appreciated the school education department for launching various initiatives within a short period. She also interacted with the students of around 20 schools through video conference. She advised the students to make use of e-learning resources for gaining excellence in education.
