Colleges Affiliated to Bangalore University Fail to Bag Top NAAC Rating
Except for two colleges which include a Government College, no other college from Bangalore has managed to secure the A+ rating from NAAC.
A total number of 118 colleges affiliated to Bangalore University failed to secure top rating from National Assessment and Accreditation Board or NAAC. Except for two colleges which include Government College, none of the other colleges secured A+ rating from NAAC.
According to NAAC, A++ rating is given to the college which performs exceptionally in all parameters, i.e., excellence in administration and faculty. On the other hand, 'C' rating is given to those colleges which are dire straits. A total number of 10 colleges received a B++ rating. Montfort College and SSMRV College are among them.

Similarly, a total number of 50 colleges affiliated to Bangalore University received 'B' rating and turned out to be average performers.
A college needs to complete six years since the date of establishment or led out two batches of graduates is eligible for NAAC accreditation. The three-year accreditation will be held for every five years.
Ninge Gowda, Registrar of Bangalore University, indicated that NAAC ratings reveal the quality of education that is being offered in various universities or colleges across the country. He termed that securing 'A" grade is good and 'A++' is exceptional.

He further added that Government Science College (Autonomous) secured 'B++' rating in the year 2005 and the college improved its rating to 'A' in the year 2010. However, by 2016 the College emerged as the best by securing 'A+' grade from NAAC.
V.Nagesh, Stand-in Principal of Government Science College, mentioned that getting 'A+' grade is not a great thing but sustaining the rating is a challenging task. Therefore, the responsibility of the college has become more to sustain and improve the rating.
