Colleges Without NAAC Accreditation May Lose License
Prof Mughesappa, Joint Director of Collegiate Education Department has stated that colleges may lose their licence over lack of NAAC Accreditation. No NAAC Accreditation will lead to being denied the amenities offered by the government and UGC.
During the inauguration of a one-day lecture of NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) and IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) convenors at Maharani’s College of Arts and Science for Women, the joint director of the Collegiate Education Department, Prof Mughesappa had stated that if colleges do not have a NAAC Accreditation, their licence will be taken away.
He added that there are currently 75 colleges under the regional director’s office. Out of these 75 colleges, only 53 colleges have received the NAAC accreditation. The rest of the colleges have not received the accreditation due to various reasons, one of which could be the lack of necessary infrastructure. However, it is important for all the colleges to undergo the assessment and accreditation process which is conducted by NAAC.
Professor Mughesappa also added that IQAC funds will be released in a couple of days. Colleges are advised to use these funds to design activities, keeping the students in mind. He also advised against organising events just for the sake of spending the money. He further added that the students should be receiving the funds in the correct way. He added that the colleges will have to start attracting the students towards joining the government-run colleges as well. He mentioned that the government colleges are now competing with private colleges.

Mughesappa also stated that in the previous years, the job of the teachers was limited to arriving at the colleges only to teach the class. He says that teachers will now need to be working with the students at the different stages of their stay in the college. He also adds that the teachers should try their best to maintain the teaching quality as well as solve all the problems that are brought up by the student. He then goes to say that if the colleges do not have a NAAC accreditation, then they will be denied from receiving the amenities from UGC as well as the government.
