Check NTA CUET 2022 ranking system that includes score and rank calculation method. CUET 2022 result is expected in September.
CUET UG 2022 has been conducted for the first time to fill seats in various UG courses offered by different central universities, colleges, private universities and state universities. The exam was conducted in multiple sessions, and there are almost 27 domain-specific subjects in the CUET exam out of which the candidates were allowed to choose at least 2 subjects. The question paper of CUET consists of Language, Domain-specific subjects and General test. The total marks weightage of the exam was 700 for Slot 1 and 400 for Slot 2.
NTA has followed the normalization process to determine the percentile score of CUET 2022. As the exam was conducted in multiple sessions, the normalization process is followed to ensure fairness in the percentile or ranking system.
How CUET 2022 Score is Calculated?
For the benefit of candidates, we have simplified the process that is followed by NTA to calculate the CUET score –
- As the exam is conducted in multiple sessions, NTA has adopted a normalization process through which percentile score is calculated on the basis of raw score
- Firstly, the highest percentile scored by the candidate in a particular shift or session is taken into consideration
- For example, if 10,000 students appeared in a session, and the highest mark scored by a candidate is 670 while the lowest mark is 10. The percentile of the candidate scoring the highest marks is 100 for that particular session or shift
- This way in each shift, candidates scoring the highest marks will be awarded the 100 percentile. In case, there is a tie between two or more candidates because of the similar marks scored, it is resolved by following certain tie-breaking rules
- The percentile score will have up to 7 decimal points. This will help NTA in ranking the students basis the percentile score with exact decimal points
- The candidates must note that the candidate with the highest marks in each shift shall get 100 percentile. This will ensure fairness in the result calculation
- NTA will release both percentile and a raw score while announcing the results
How CUET 2022 Rank is Calculated?
We have simplified the CUET 2022 ranking system for the benefit of students. However, students must note that different universities many follow diverse ranking systems as follows –
Ranking System Example 1: Based on the raw score or percentile score, universities might prepare a merit list in which a rank will be allocated to the candidates. If the highest mark of the candidate is 600 as per the applications received, this candidate will be awarded 1st rank in the merit list.
Ranking System Example 2: Some universities might use the percentile secured by the candidate. For example, if the highest percentile of the applicant of that particular university is 98.776, this candidate will be awarded 1st spot in the merit list.
In all, either the percentile or raw score will be used by universities to prepare the merit list.
