• China conducts ‘simulated strikes’ on Taiwan on Day 2 of war drills:

Chinese military simulated precision strikes on key targets in Taiwan on the second day of the ongoing drill as the defence ministry reports detecting 11 warships and 59 aircraft circling the island on Monday. 

• Israel hits back at Syria after rockets were fired into Golan Heights:

Israel launched artillery attacks on multiple targets in Syria in response to 6 rockets fired into its territory near Golan Heights. The attacks followed after escalating regional tension and violence ignited by a clash at a holy site in Jerusalem.

• Saudi officials reach Yemen’s capital for talks with rebels:

Saudi officials visited the capital of Yemen, Sanaa, on Sunday, for a discussion with the Iran-backed Houthi rebels as part of global efforts to pacify the country’s 9-year conflict.

• PM Modi launches global bloc to save world’s 7 big cat species:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Sunday, launched a 97-nation International Big Cats Alliance focused on the conservation and protection of the world’s seven big cat species, namely, the lion, tiger, jaguar, leopard, cheetah, puma, and snow leopard. 

• A 4.6 magnitude earthquake shook the Nicobar Islands in the wee hours on Monday:

An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 on the Richter’s scale occurred at a depth of 32Km at Campbell Bay near the Nicobar Islands at 2:26 AM on Monday. This was the third earthquake in a row after two of them hit the islands a day on April 9.
