Israel-Hamas War: India Launches ‘Operation Ajay’ to Airlift Its Citizens from Warzone
As the deadly war between Israel and Terrorist Organisation Hamas in Gaza enters the the second week, U.N. Chief Antonio Guterres has appealed that the humanitarian aids in Gaza must not be stopped and the violence must be stopped at the earliest. Several other countries have also requested a ceasefire from Israel
- Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have blocked all routes of supply and aid to Gaza Strip. Israel has urged the weakened state of Gaza to evacuate the southern area with immediate effect
- Tons of survival and medical aid sent by several countries for the Gaza strip has been held at the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula and is not allowed to enter due to Israel’s resistance.
- Continuing his support to Israel in the war, US President Joe Biden has stated that he might visit Israel to show support and decide future war strategies with Israel
- India has continued to carry out stranded citizens from the warzone under ‘Operation Ajay’. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Daily flights from Tel Aviv have been increased to speed up the evacuation process. Thousands of Indian nationals are yet to be airlifted from Israel.
Indian Space Conclave Held by Indian Space Association in New Delhi
The second edition of the annually conducted Indian Space Conclave (ISC 2023) was held in New Delhi at the Manekshaw Centre. Several new technologies and upcoming possible programmes were unveiled at the conclave with some important agreements signed.
- The program was co-hosted by the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) with ISpA
- The theme of this year’s ISC 2023 was ‘Bhumi se Brahmanan Tak’ (From Earth to the Universe) focusing on the potential of exploration in space.
- Organising body ISpA and the Groupement des Industries Francaises Aeronautiques at Spatials (GIFAS), a major France-based company in the space industry have signed a MoU for mutually working together to enhance the understanding of space Industry Capabilities
ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Defending Champion England Defeated by Afghanistan
In a shockingly surprising match, Afghanistan who was at the bottom of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 points table defeated the champion England on Sunday by 69 runs. This has marked the first win in 12 matches of its World Cup history. Completely destroying the English batting order, the Afghani team registered a jaw-dropping win in the ongoing World Cup:
- Batting first, Afghanistan scored a fighting total of 284 with important contributions from Rahmanullah Gurbaaz (80) and Ikhram Alikhil (58). Adil Rashid took the maximum 3 wickets from England
- The English team collapsed after the opening pair returned to the pavilion. The whole team was bowled out at 215 in which only Harry Brook (66) kept the hopes on for the English team. Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rehman both took out 3 wickets each
- After the historic win, Afghanistan has been promoted in the points table while five-times world champion Australia has fallen to the last position
