DAV University for Women to Come Up in Yamunanagar

The Government of Haryana has accorded permission with certain conditions for setting up DAV University for Women in Yamunanagar. For this purpose, the government issued a Letter of Intent to the sponsoring body for setting up the private university, i.e., DAV University. Explaining about the certain conditions laid by the government, an official spokesperson revealed that the varsity must set up three faculties initially, and provide instructions to the Ph.D. level within three years in any of the three faculties. Similarly, the varsity must seek authorisation from the state government before the commencement of the proposed course as per Section 34A of the Haryana Private Universities Act, 2006.

He further explained that the authorities of the DAV University for Women must seek permission of CLU or Change of Land Use from the Local Bodies Department and Town and Country Planning Development units before starting the construction. The administration of DAV University must make the corpus of funds to the university or cross-subsidise the fee structure, and make it more affordable. The varsity must give more importance to research in all disciplines. The varsity must also introduce doctoral programmes in all disciplines in a systematic manner.

The official further explained that the varsity must consider marks or grades scored by the candidates in the entrance examination or qualifying examination for the admission to UG courses. The management of the varsity must seek special approval from the state government for carrying out the admission process. The varsity must grant admission based on merit, and there must be no quota. The state government will also approve admission process to PG courses separately.
