DCI Lowers NEET Cut-off for BDS Admissions due To Vacant Seats
The Dental Council of India has lowered the NEET UG cut-off criteria for BDS admissions this year. The cut-off has been brought down by 10 percentile in all categories due to vacant seats. Registrations for newly qualified candidates will start from September 12.
With the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) merit list released, the Dental Council of India (DCI) has reduced the cut-off for admission to the BDS programme. As per the Medical Council Committee, DCI has reduced the cut-off by 10 percentile. This means, that there is a possibility that the National Testing Agency (NTA) might have to release the new merit list.
Although the Dental Council of India has reduced the cut-off criteria, there has been no official confirmation from NTA regarding the same. With the new requirement, the candidates from the general category who have obtained 40 percentile, will be eligible for admissions. Meanwhile, among the reserved categories, candidates will need 30 percentiles while PwD candidates will require 35 percentile.
As per the previous eligibility criteria, general category candidates needed 50 percentile to pass the eligibility, while reserved category candidates needed 40 percentile and PwD candidates needed 45 percentile.
The lowered cut-off, the candidates who are now eligible for admission to the BDS programme, will need to register themselves for the counselling process. The candidates will be able to register themselves on the official website of the Medical Council Committee at mcc.nic.in.
