<p>In an effort to keep a check on women security, Delhi Commission of Women chief Swati Maliwal has directed 23 institute heads across the capital to provide information on sexual harassment of women at workplace. The move comes in the wake of sexual harassment case in St. Stephen’s College.
Maliwal’s letter to vice chancellors and institutional heads reads, “The DCW has been entrusted with the duty of monitoring the safety, security and interest of women in Delhi, and has been empowered to call for records and requisition documents for this purposes.”
The DCW chief also sought to know fund allocated to the sexual harassment committee along with the details of the expenditure for the financial year 2013-2014.
Some prominent universities and institutes were asked to file details. They include Delhi University (DU), Jamia Millia Islamia, Jamia Hamdard University, Delhi Technological University (DTU), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Ambedkar University, All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), National School of Drama (NSD) and Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), etc.
The DCW asked these universities to file details by September 9.
