Decision on Proposed 28 Colleges in Mumbai Likely to be out on July 31
Initially, the government announced that the decision will be out by 15-July-2016 and it has been pushed to July 31, 2016. There might be a chance for further delay.
The Government of Mumbai is yet to take a decision on the proposed 28 colleges in the state. The government is likely to give the decision by 31-July-2016. According to the officials of Mumbai University, this year the commencement of academic year in new proposed colleges is not possible. Most of the colleges started its term on 4-July-2016 and classes are going in full swing. At this juncture, the new colleges would not commence classes as it will be late.
The state government mentioned that they are in a process of verification of documents for the shortlisted colleges and the decision will be out by July 31,2016.
It is highly impossible for the new colleges to commence academic year as the process of admissions, recruitment of faculty and other issues will take time. The officials of government said that the proposals for the setting up of new colleges have been sent late.
For the past two years, the government did not approve the proposals for setting up of new colleges. Only limited colleges have been given permission.
