Delhi Cabinet Allows Construction of Integrated Campus of GB Pant Engineering College
Delhi Govt. has given its approval for the construction of integrated campus of GB Pant Engineering College. The approval has been granted for providing world-class infrastructure to the college, catering to around 3000 students.
The Delhi Cabinet has given its approval for the construction of an integrated campus of GB Pant Engineering College & Polytechnic at Okhla Industrial Estate on 8th March 2019. The estimated cost of the integrated campus is around Rs.520 crore.
The polytechnic institute has been functioning in an old building whereas the engineering institute has been functioning from the old hostel buildings of the polytechnic. Therefore, the cabinet decided to establish an integrated campus with proper facilities and infrastructure for the students.
According to one of the government officials, there is a dire need for the establishment of a proper campus which has all the facilities to cater to both current and future requirements. As of now, there are 3,000 students, 200 teach teachers and over 200 non-teaching staff in both polytechnic and engineering institute.

The estimated cost of the approval is around Rs.526.66 crore. The funds will help in providing world-class infrastructure and facilities to the students. The institute has been lacking proper labs and training cells which is very important to enhance the professional skills of the students.

One of the other government officials informed that the Public Works Department has framed the preliminary estimate. The estimate was framed by PWD along with college authorities and the officers of the Dept. of Training & Technical Education.
