The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCRET) confirmed the launch of the entrepreneurship curriculum during the governing council meeting. The formal release of the respective framework will be released on 13th February 2019. Manish Sisodia, Delhi Education Minister chaired the council meeting of State Council of Educational Research and Training.
A committee comprising of 16 SCRET teachers, NCERT teachers, private school teachers and educationists are working on the curriculum. The launch will be attended by many eminent personalities such as the Chief Minister, entrepreneurs from different fields and experts.
The entrepreneurship curriculum will have no books or study material instead it will be based on activities and practical skills. It will be more about practical learning and enhancing skills of the students in the field of entrepreneurship.
The Department of Education of the Government of Delhi will be holding “special classes” for the purpose of cultivating an idea and spirit of entrepreneurship in the young minds of the children. One part of the entrepreneurship curriculum includes the students meeting with the local entrepreneurs of Delhi who have had a successful business story to share. With the help of this section of the curriculum, the students will have the opportunity to learn what it really takes to be an entrepreneur.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia spoke with the media and stated that the reason as to why they chose local entrepreneurs over the big names in the industry was to allow the students to be able to connect with the issues and situations that they are familiar with. He stated that bringing in someone like Narayan Murthy while being a great motivational opportunity, will be looked upon by the children as an “unbeatable target”. He further added that bringing in someone from their own localities will allow the students to relate with the entrepreneurs and their stories.
