Delhi Govt to Come Up with More Vocational Training Centres

Keeping its pace with changing times, the Delhi Government has decided to come up with new vocational training centres and at the same time, strengthen the existing one, disclosed Manish Sisodia - Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi on January 16, 2017.

Sisodia is also the Education Minister of the state. The minister made this remark while interacting with visiting delegates from Australia and senior officials of the education department. They were discussing steps to set up vocational training institutes in India, so as to enhance the training of educators and also improve the course content of vocational education as well as skill development programme in Delhi.

The minister said that there are lots of priority areas where the skills of the students need to be improved. Some of the grey areas where the skills of the students may be enhanced are Hospitality, Retail, Paramedical Training, Travel and Tourism.

The minister also highlighted the main problem of the technical higher education institutes in India and where its lacks in avenues. He was in favour of removing the lacuna in the educational system.

The minister stressed on improving the vocational training on the following area like:

• Content
• Communication
• Presentation

The Minister also said that the new avenues for exploring vocational courses at the Bachelors level have to be done for the courses presently running in the middle level. Delhi has got world class skill education centre in collaboration with Government of Singapore already. He also mooted the idea of having more such institutes in future. The Minister was in favour of futuristic research and study on the trends of the market and stressed on exchanging trainers as well as skills education.
