Delhi LG Directs Universities to Focus on Technology for Teaching, Exams
Lt Governor Anil Baijal hosted a meeting with the vice-chancellors of Delhi government-run universities to assess their preparedness for conducting the pending exams and asked them to focus on making use of technology.
Anil Baijal, Delhi Lieutenant Governor has asked the universities to focus more on the use of technology for admission processes, exams and for teaching-learning as all the educational institutes are shut since March due to the ongoing coronavirus lockdown in India.
The official residence of the LG, Raj Niwas mentioned in a statement that Baijal held a video conference with the VC of the universities and IIT Delhi Director to assess how well they are prepared for the pending exams, admissions, internships, placements and online learning for the upcoming academic session amid the present challenging times due to COVID-19.

VCs of Delhi Technological University, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology , Ambedkar University, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University , National Law University , Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University, and IIT Delhi director attended the meeting.
The VCs informed the LG regarding the current curriculum status such as the exam schedule, online learning, admission process, internship, placements etc. Baijal emphasised more on the usage of technology for conducting admissions, exams and teaching. He also asked the universities to chalk out a plan for the next academic year.
He directed the universities to continue the educational activities keeping in mind the safety and security of the students, staff and faculty members. He emphasised that every institute should have a virtual classroom and video-conferencing facilities. All teaching staff should also be trained to use technology. He also recommended that the VCs should follow all precautions such as disinfecting, checking mosquito breeding sources and ensure social distancing on their respective campuses.
