Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DESU) Seats to Increase by 800, 6 New Campuses to be Added
Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DESU) plans to add six more campuses this year, which would result in an increase of 800 seats. Read below for more information.
Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DESU): On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, Vice-Chancellor of Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU), Neharika Vohra, announced that the university will establish six additional campuses, expanding its seat strength by 800 seats. According to the VC, "A total of 6,000 students, including those in diploma programmes, were admitted in the first batch that started last year, in 2021. We have a total of 35 different programmes."
She went on to say that the varsity, which was founded in 2020, will enrol 7,000 students this year.
"We currently have 15 campuses and six more are being prepared for a takeover. These are small college campuses as compared to others." Neharika Vohra further added, " This academic year, we are adding around 800 more seats. As last year, we admitted 6,000 students, this year, we are expected to raise the number at least to 6,800 and it may exceed up to 7,000 students."
DSEU New Programmes
DSEU VC Neharika Vohra explained the new programmes, stating that two new UG programmes have commenced in Emergency Medical Technology and Dialysis Technology.
Aside from that, the VC also stated that four new bachelor's programmes will begin before the conclusion of this year.
"Both courses have 60 seats respectively," said DSEU VC Neharika Vohra. " Their lessons start in June. We are also launching four new bachelor's degree programmes, including a Bachelor in Autosales, Bachelor of Optometry, and Bachelor in Hospital Management."
"Optometry is a major programme with 180 seats that is being done in collaboration with Lenskart," she went on further to explain. "We are working to not make these programmes very expensive but at a reasonable fee."

Engineering Seats to be Doubled
Niharika Vohra went on to say that the DSEU university will also double the number of current engineering seats. Three new MTech programmes have also begun at the institution.
"This year, we launched three new MTech programmes." She said. "We are taking twenty students in each of the MTech programmes, but we will be awarding fellowships to all of them."
DSEU to Launch PhD Programmes
VC Vohra also stated that the university intends to offer a PhD programme in four areas: Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and IT, Computer Application, and Tools and Dye.
"We haven't finalized the number of seats yet in these PhD programmes," she continued. " However, it is certain that we will only accept a maximum of 20 candidates. A PhD diploma in Digital Marketing is set to begin in December this year."
