Delhi University admission solely through CUCET

Delhi University Admissions for all the courses solely depend on CUCET/CUET. Admissions to Delhi University colleges will depend exclusively on the scores of the Common University Entrance Test provided the academic council, which is going to meet tomorrow, takes a decision for it. Delhi University academic council will meet on March 22, 2022, to discuss changes pertaining to the admission process as the university is adopting the entrance test system.
Delhi University`s academic council is going to meet tomorrow to talk about the admission criteria since the DU has taken the decision to opt for CUCET from the academic year 2022-23. Delhi University`s highest decision-making body is the executive council of DU. The executive council of DU is going to have a meeting on March 25, 2022. The decision taken by the Academic council tomorrow, the same points will most probably be taken for the discussion, and conclusions may be drawn up.

Delhi University`s Standing Committee of the Academic Council had its official meeting on March 17, 2022. The Standing Committee recommended that admissions to the university be solely based on CUCET Scores. As stated in the minutes of the meeting, it is not feasible to include the criterion based on the marks obtained in board examinations. According to the minutes of the meeting, members of the committee felt that the eligibility criteria must be inclusive so that a larger number of students do take admissions in the varsity. Committee also felt that the minimum eligibility criterion should be rephrased, as the aspirants should have passed the Class XII examination.

The members opinioned and advised that the aspirants of CUCET 2022, must appear in CUCET for the subjects, for which they have qualified in Class 12. In case the subjects studied in Class 12 are not mentioned in CUCET, then the candidate should appear for the subject that is similar or closely related to the subjects studied. For the admissions, merit will be estimated and calculated based on the combination of subjects that a candidate takes in CUCET.
The standing committee also proposed that there should be a practical exam for faculty of music and fine arts physical education and sports along with a CUCET score. The practical exam, as well as the CUCET score, will be given equal weightage as 50% for the admissions. Committee also decided that admissions to minority colleges namely St Stephen`s, Jesus, and Mary will also be done through CUCET. There will be separate merit lists prepared during the centralized counselling process for unreserved and minority candidates as per the reservation policy.
