Delhi University has announced the second cutoff list for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category students and the cutoff for them is marginally higher as compared to other reserved category candidates.

The admissions in the EWS category have been really slow as only 27 per cent seats have been filled after the second cut-off. According to the reports, a total of 1,527 students have taken admission in undergraduate courses in EWS category though it has 5,600 seats. Students and professors have blamed the high cutoff for EWS quota for the slow admissions. The cutoff is as high as those meant for general category students.

The DU first cutoff list 2019 has already been announced for all its affiliated colleges. DU has started releasing the 2nd cutoff list as well.

In one of the top Commerce Colleges in Delhi University, Sri Ram College of Commerce, The candidates from General Category required to meet the 98.5% cut-off criteria for B.Com (Hons), meanwhile, the cut-off for BA Economics (Hons) was 98.75%. However, for the candidates under the EWS category, the cut-off went as high as 97%, meanwhile, the cut-off for BA Economics under the EWS category reduced slightly to 98.25%.

However, SRCC was not the only Delhi University college where such slight reductions were made for the candidates under the EWS category. The difference between popular science programmes at Hansraj College ranged between .25% to .34% only. Meanwhile, the highest difference between the categories of EWS and other categories was seen at 3% for most courses at Aditi Mahavidyalaya, whereas, the difference with SC was around 5%.

Like these colleges, most colleges had put out high cut-off criteria for the EWS category overall for most streams like in Arts, Science and Commerce. The third cut-off is expected to be released on 9th July 2019, meanwhile, the fourth and the fifth cut-off list is anticipated to be released on 15th and 20th July 2019, respectively.
