Delhi University Holds 93rd Annual Convocation
On this occasion, a total number of 666 doctoral degrees, 181 medals and 37 Doctorate of Medicine degrees were awarded to students who passed various examinations during the academic year ending in 2015.
Delhi University organised 93rd convocation ceremony on November 19, 2016. Prof.Ved. P. Nanda from University of Denver Sturm College of Law conferred degrees to students for the academic session ending in the year 2015.
“Shankh Naad”, a musical celebration marked the opening of the convocation ceremony. One of the members of an Army band, a Bulger from Delhi Police and RSS Joint General Secretary Krishna Gopal also attended the ceremony.
On this occasion, a total number of 666 doctoral degrees, 181 medals and 37 Doctorate of Medicine degrees were awarded to the students who passed various examinations during the academic sessions that ended in the year 2015. All these degrees were conferred in absentia. All the degrees will be released to the respective colleges, institutions, faculties or departments.

Later, Prof. Nanda delivered the convocation address and pointed out the various challenges in the education system and the industry. He indicated that most of the Indian universities have the potential to be among the top 100 in world rankings. However, none of the Indian universities is among top 100 in the rankings. A university like DU has the potential to achieve better rankings, and he hoped that the varsity would be able to witness the same in coming years.
He stressed on “interdisciplinary education” which has become rampant internationally. It is time for the Indian varsities to prove its importance potentially, he added. He also quoted that it is the responsibility of the students to find solutions for various problems prevalent in the society and they must play a significant role in making the world better.

This year, the convocation ceremony witnessed a unique practice of reciting holy verses from Quran, Gurbani, Bible and Ganesh Vandana at the function.
